The benefits of autonomous transportation systems
An autonomous travel system follows every manufacturing worker. Its shopping basket contains all the parts required to finish assembling the engine.
The Mercedes-AMG logistical center in Marbach loads up the transport systems, which are then “just in sequence” transported to the assembly line. Autonomous control is also performed via WLAN indoor tracking. Every component is tracked digitally.
“START YOUR ENGINE” and “AMG PERFORMANCE INSIDE” are among the words shown on the assembly and transport carts, which have a Mercedes-AMG aesthetic including black and white design elements. This enhances motivation and a sense of belonging to the business. The shop floor features hatching and white-and-red stripes that are similar to the guide rails and curbs on racetracks
